A good bartender can be a powerful ally on a night out. They not only serve up our drink of choice, but make sure we stay hydrated by offering a glass of water on the side, usually without being asked, and they always manage to keep it filled. They keep silent but pointed watch over our interactions with other customers, ready to help make an introduction, send a drink to the hottie at the other end of the bar or step in to help fend off unwelcome advances without causing a scene.

A good bartender can help make a good night out a great night out. The folks at Sailor Jerry Rum, makers of the preferred spiced rum of mixologists has declared today, December 8, Bartender’s Appreciation Day. It’s the perfect time to show your favorite drinks slinger some love, let them know their work hasn’t gone unnoticed, and, hey, try out a couple of cocktails made with Sailor Jerry. Here’s two to look for.

Jerry Mule
Jerry & Ginger
2 parts Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum
3 parts Ginger Beer
2 lime wedges

Known by many as the ‘Jerry Mule’, this old-school classic is as tasty as it is simple. Fill a glass with ice and squeeze in two wedges of lime. Throw in a measure of Sailor Jerry and top with ginger beer.
