
Getting back into the swing of things at work after a long holiday weekend is not easy. Why is it so hard to remember simple things, like logins and passwords and where you left off on that document on your computer screen after just a few days?
Yep, getting back on your grind is difficult. Which makes today’s cocktail such a welcome relief. The Bush & Ginger requires just three ingredients: Bushmills Black Bush Irish whiskey, ginger ale or ginger beer and some mint leaves. The whiskey is smooth and full bodied, with an underlying sweetness that whispers of raisins and other dried fruits associated with holiday cakes. This note comes courtesy of the oloroso sherry casks that were used to mature the whiskey. For you non-whiskey drinkers, this sherry cask finishing takes any harsh edges off the final product. If you’re not a whiskey fan, this just may be your gateway cocktail.
Bush & Ginger
1½ oz Bushmills Black Bush
3 oz ginger ale or ginger beer
handful of mint leaves
Fill a tall glass with ice, add the whiskey first, then the ginger ale. Top with a few mint leaves. (I threw in slice of lime to add a splash of brightness)
