Drinking Like a Time Lord (no Tardis needed)

You don’t need Doctor Who to travel back in time. The the folks at Mode Studios put together this fun video trip through cocktail history. Join the manager of Tradition bar in San Francisco as he takes us through a century of cocktails in two minutes.

And for those playing along at home, here are the recipes for all the drinks in the video.

 

1910s Manhattan

2 oz. 100 proof Rye Whiskey

1 oz. Sweet Vermouth

2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Cherry to garnish

 

1920s Champagne Cocktail

Champagne or Sparkling white wine

1 Sugar Cube

4 dashes Angostura Bitters

Lemon Twist to garnish

 

1930s Bloody Mary

1 1/2 oz. Vodka

1/4 oz Lemon Juice

2 dashes Worcestershire Sauce

4 dashes Tabasco Sauce

1 pinch Salt

1 pinch Pepper

4 oz. Tomato Juice

Lemon Wedge and Celery Stalk to Garnish

 

1940s Mai Tai

1 oz. Jamaican Rum

1 oz. Martinique Rum

3/4 oz. Lime Juice

1/2 oz Orange Curacao

1/4 oz. Orgeat

1/8 oz. Simple Syrup

Mint Sprig and Half a Lime Shell to garnish

 

1950s Martini

2 oz. Gin

1 oz. Dry Vermouth

Pimento Stuffed Olives to garnish

 

1960s Whiskey Sour

2 oz. Bourbon Whiskey

1 oz. Lemon Juice

3/4 oz. Rich Simple Syrup

Half Lemon Wheel and Cherry to garnish

 

1970s Harvey Wallbanger

1 1/2 oz. Vodka

1/2 oz. Galliano

4 oz. Orange Juice

Half Orange Wheel to garnish

 

1980s (Flamed) B52 Shot

1/2 oz. Grand Marnier

1/2 oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream

1/2 oz. Kahlua

 

1990s Long Island Iced Tea

3/4 oz. Vodka

3/4 oz. Gin

3/4 oz. Rum

3/4 oz. Tequila

3/4 oz. Triple Sec

1/2 oz. Lemon Juice

1 oz. Cola

Lemon Wheel to garnish

 

2000s Cosmopolitan

1 1/2 oz. Citron Vodka

3/4 oz. Cointreau

1/2 oz. Lime Juice

1 oz. Cranberry Juice

Flamed Orange Zest to garnish

 

2010s Old Fashioned

2 oz. Bourbon or Rye Whiskey

1/8 oz. Rich Simple Syrup

3 dashes Angostura

Orange Twist
